hovercards don't show equations correctly
Closed, DuplicatePublic

Description

Story

As a reader previewing articles with formulas, I want to see equations display correctly

Description
Equations are currently not formatted correctly within hovercards (a few examples below).

From User_talk:Gufosowa, here. I pasted the linked image below:

I observed that the text formatting is not shown properly in the hovercard. Text to be shown is formatted as "<math>X</math>". >Instead of applying the effects of this markup or ignoring it, the markup tag is displayed as "X {\displaystyle X}". I uploaded an >image demonstrating the problem here.
Thank you all for your efforts.

QA
Ensure equations displaying correctly within hovercards. A few pages to test:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lie_algebra#See_also (hover through most lie algebra articles)

similar to T99793. where I currently can't reproduce that bug, but instead got this output behavior.

Another, simpler case is when the linked section includes brackets. These appear to be dropped on the hovercard. That is understandable for parenthetical text, but can be completely incorrect when linking to a maths-based article. For example the hovercard for Pronic number shows "... of the form n", rather than "... of the form n(n+1)"
