Random can give you a page that is not in the language you chose
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

On MediaWiki.org, I noticed that when I hit Random, most of the times I would be brought to a page that is not in my language (en). Could you make it so that Special:Random will only serve you pages in the language you have set?

@PokestarFan: Which underlying problem would this solve?
Which problem do you solve by using the "Random page" function and why does this problem require you to not get random pages but only pages in a specific language? (For future reference, please see https://mediawiki.org/wiki/How_to_report_a_bug - thanks!)

@matmarex What is specific about Translate here? The ability to change page content language is a core feature.

Why should Special:Random return random pages just from a specific category (e.g. in a specific languag)? That could mean, that in some cases, Special:Random is not random anymore, because pages are selected by specific user-properties :/

Indeed... I'm closing this as declined because Special:Random is about random pages. Specific language is not random anymore by definition.
