Maybe we can start with greping all WMF wikis for it

mwgrep "getEntity"

@hoo are you still working on this? Should it move to camp?

This task has been assigned to the same task owner for more than two years. Resetting task assignee due to inactivity, to decrease task cookie-licking and to get a slightly more realistic overview of plans. Please feel free to assign this task to yourself again if you still realistically work or plan to work on this task - it would be welcome!

This probably could use some more context. Why do we want to find out how mw.wikibase.getEntity is used? Is this mainly to understand how an expensive function is used in order to maybe optimize that, or is there another motivation?

I think this was mainly about understanding why more specialized functions are not used and which more specialized functions are missing. The goal was to move people away from the more expensive calls where possible.
