Civi process when generating/adding the donor name
Open, Needs TriagePublic

Description

CID 51559392 (Ticket# 1178500) --> This donor misspelled his first name which is attached to his Ingenico donation from 2021. He replied to a 2022 fundraising email that contained the same misspelled format in the subject line, however, the body of the email contained the correct name spelling.

Is this the norm since CiviCRM has the capacity to correct minor spelling errors or is this something to keep an eye on?

When checking the email sent in CiviCRM we see the following:
Subject line: %%DC::firstname::firstname%% --> where is this info being pulled from?
Body of the email: %%DC::FIRSTNAME::Saluttation%%. --> where is this info being pulled from?

This information would be super helpful in helping us understand the current process in case we happen to see anything different in the future. Thanks in advance!

Event Timeline

For context - this donor has two CIDs tied to the same email address, CID 6115350 (correct first name, mirrored in greeting) and CID 51559392 (typo in first name, mirrored in SL of email).

Is Acoustic pulling from both CIDs?

Adding @TSkaff @nisrael and @KHaggard

Hi @krobinson - So I looked into the cids and the email address. Confirming that Acoustic sent the Sep 22nd email to CID 51559392 only. The other CID hasn't been sent an email since 2021 and is not pulling up any search results in Acoustic when I search for 6115350.

That being said, I would deduce that the misspelled first name was present in both SL and the body of the email, as Acoustic doesn't have this record with a correctly spelled first name anywhere.

Could it be possible that the donor amended the name when they drafted their reply to donate@?
