What happens?:
- This returns results including www.kb.nl and other subdomains
What should have happened instead?:
An exact match should have been made. This is also documented on the special page. By default matches should be exact, but a wildcard sign can be used in the search.

This is most likely fallout from T312666: Remove duplication in externallinks table
The other option is that the query was rewritten to the new query builder and this issue was introduced thus.
