**Survey**: 2013
**Original wish (German):** https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Umfragen/Technische_W%C3%BCnsche/Dateien
**Update sites on-wiki:**
- English: <not existant yet>
- German: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Technische_W%C3%BCnsche/Topw%C3%BCnsche#Technisch_sauberes_Verschieben_von_Dateien_nach_Commons_unter_Beibehaltung_der_Versionsgeschichte_und_des_Benutzernamens_.5BUmfrage_2013.5D
**Current list of possibly included tasks**:
- The goal is to create an extension that really moves (not uploads again) files to commons, keeping all data intact. This includes description history, file history, binary file itself (all versions), info about who moved the file (also display the move in the version history).
- After the move, the file should also have the correct template assorted
- People with "rollback permission" (in German context: "Zurücksetzer") should be able to undo the move
- It should not be possible to move files that have a wrong licence, e.g. fair-use
- The extension is not limited to Wikipedia but could be called from any project (probably)
- Still open: How the parts look like that users interact with
