Of the 10 PSv2 [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PostScript_fonts#Core_Font_Set|core 35]] families, WMF currently has replacements for 3 (Courier, Helvetica, Times), but are missing out on the other seven (Symbol, Avant Garde Gothic, Bookman, New Century Schoolbook, Palatino, Zaph Chancery, Zaph Dingbats). Although these typefaces are not as commonly used, they are nevertheless popular and versatile. More importantly, open source, metric-compatible replacements that look close enough (sometimes straightforward clones) are available for all ten.
* The Western typefaces can be included by installing `fonts-texgyre`. The `fontconfig` installation on Debian should [[https://cgit.freedesktop.org/fontconfig/tree/conf.d/30-metric-aliases.conf|automatically add aliases to better-known names]].
* The mapping of the three existing families will change slightly. References using the "proper" names (Courier, Helvetica, Times) will become preferentially handled by TeX Gyre, since they are actually closer clones. References using Windows names (Courier New, Arial, Times New Roman) will still be handled by Liberation Sans.
* The Symbols font can be included by installing `fonts-croscore`. `fontconfig` again takes care of aliasing.
* The Zaph Dingbats is unavailable to debian at the moment. It's the least used of the ten anyways.
