RFC Meeting: (part 1) Notifications in core (part 2) define an official thumb API (2016-03-09, #wikimedia-office)
ActivePublic

Hosted by daniel on Mar 9 2016, 10:00 PM - 11:00 PM.

Description

  • Location: #wikimedia-office IRC channel
  • Meeting type: consensus
  • Time: Weekly, Wednesday 22:00 UTC (2pm PST)
  • Agenda:
    • Plan for this week is to split the discussion into two parts:
      • T128351 RfC: Notifications in core
        • @brion is shepherding, and would like to confirm rough consensus for moving some of the Echo code into core
      • T66214: Use content hash based image / thumb URLs & define an official thumb API
        • @GWicke hopes we can reach consensus on the format of a thumb API, which lets clients easily select thumb size and quality. Define the image identifier as an opaque string. Examples: /thumb/{id}/{size}{/quality_format}, value /thumb/Wiki.png/640.

See the Architecture meetings page for more general information about this meeting (also: Phab query: list of upcoming RFC meetings, Phab query: list of all RFC meetings).

I'll be at the meeting, but it'd be nice to have a draft spec to look at that addresses these issues by then.

I guess if we're going to be putting anything into "last call", we should have some clarity about what is going into last call. @GWicke, am I correct in my understanding that you wanted to put the thumb API into last call? Is my comment "the spec", or is there some other place where the spec is more clearly defined? It seems to me that we're only on track for this meeting to be a field narrowing conversation at this stage.
