Unable to edit semi-protected articles
Closed, DuplicatePublic

Description

Even though I am logged in in the app, I'm unable to edit the article Yahoo! on iOS. I can edit it on a computer or in a browser, but not in the app. I have the proper rights.

This was on an iPad mini (1st gen; MF432KS/A) with iOS 8.3 (12F69) with Wikipedia-app version 96(?) per the About-page and 4.1.3 per the App Store.

This also affects the Android app.

It is actually a bit worse, since you can't edit even pages that are only protected from moving, but allow full editing.

I wonder whether this is related to the bug where the app thinks you're logged in, but you're actually not. Here's a way to test that:

  1. Make sure you can reproduce the error Matanya mentioned.
  2. Find a different page that's not protected, and edit that successfully.
  3. Go back to the page that you reproduced this error on. Pull to refresh it. Can you edit it now?

I'm going to assume this is the same issue as T85528.
