Description

en.wiki does not have the issue.

On any Talk page in ca.wiki or test.wiki - e.g. http://test.wikimedia.beta.wmflabs.org/wiki/Talk:Mavetuna or http://ca.wikipedia.beta.wmflabs.org/wiki/Discussi%C3%B3:DT6 - click on the Mention icon, select a suggestion and click Insert.
There is no visible insert of Mention in UI. Switch to wikitext - the inserted template is displayed.

Clicking 'Save changes' in VE mode, saves the added Mention.

Title was sufficiently concerning to make me try this out myself. :-) Not a Parsoid or RESTbase issue AFAICT.

The preview request to api.php?action=visualeditor&paction=parsefragment results in a parsoidserver-http: HTTP 404 response, whereas api.php?action=flow-parsoid-utils requests to convert the same content do work. Is beta's RESTbase broken, perhaps?

http://en.wikipedia.beta.wmflabs.org/wiki/Flow?veaction=edit works fine.

It looks like RB is 404ing on anything and everything to do with missing pages. The reason we saw it in Flow was because we were testing on a new page.

Sounds like this is a bug in the VE API module not expecting RB's (legitimate) 404s.
