dbproxy servers for codfw
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

We presently have 11 db proxy systems in eqiad (dbproxy1001-1022.) These are old, re-purposed single cpu, dual ssd systems (originally squids).

I've created this task to check with @jcrespo on if this service group (dbproxy) is also required in codfw, and if so, are the requirements the same? The old requirements were 'any available older systems', as these are some of the slowest one's we have in the datacenter.

Please advise on the ideal ghz/core/memory/disk/network spec/ratios (if we have them) & quantities required. If this service cluster is required in both sites, please advise if this already has a rollout plan/timeline.

I'm going to put this to stalled/backlog and keep assigned to you for further update. I'm not pressuring you, I just don't want to close this task and forget these systems will likely eventually need allocation (in some shape or form.)

and forget these systems will likely eventually need allocation (in some shape or form.)

I think it is better to close this for now, as I will not request proxys at any time soon.

The ones that are in use do not have a service to proxy on codfw. If we add them to codfw, then we can request a proxy.
The ones that are not used may not need an equivalent on codfw.
