@mmodell, what is the "wmf/phase0" branch for? I'd like to remove the above hack.

@Legoktm: eventually I intend to kill off the practice of creating a new branch every week, instead we should be merging into stable branches. I have been maintaining the branch in order to see if any unexpected problems crop up.

I'm not sure what "phase0" is though - I created wmf/group0 not wmf/phase0

So we're planning to get rid of branches? Is this documented somewhere? How is $wgVersion/Special:Version going to work?

The way I envisioned it, we would still have version numbers, but they would be tags and each time I merge master into groupX I would create a tag to stamp it with a version number, just for reference.
