Broken Database reports on enwiki (tracking)
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Several of the reports on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Database_reports are broken with a few calls for fixing them on the Talk page.
Code on https://github.com/mzmcbride/database-reports but the actual data seems to be fetched from different scripts/bots, some of which broke during the migration to tool labs.

Rewriting database reports might be a decent project for the "Community Tech" team.

Of the currently broken reports, which would be the highest priority to fix? Forgotten articles?

I think fixing some of these reports could be a quick project for the Community Tech team, and it would be good practice for writing and setting up bot scripts on Tool Labs. [Moving to In Analysis]

For what they're worth, my old notes about rewriting/redesigning MediaWiki database reports are here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Database_reports/Redesign. Let me know if you all need access to the shared Labs account (tools.dbreps, I believe) or need any other guidance.

Getting a single report such as "Page counts by namespace" to work and regularly update on many wikis (ar.wikipedia.org, en.wikipedia.org, de.wikipedia.org, etc.) would be a good start, I think.

@MZMcBride, are these reports being published on any other wiki besides enwiki currently?

Commons too. The Wikidata ones are broken and I think have been replaced with different bots/reports.

@NiharikaKohli: The bot has been approved for a 5 day test run on English Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Bots/Requests_for_approval/Community_Tech_bot). Please set the bot to run automatically for 5 days and then disable it after that. Also, I would suggest changing the edit summaries to be something more official now (rather than "bot test edit").

There are a quite a few more reports which are broken and a lot of repeated requests for getting them fixed: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Database_reports

@TBolliger: This task is open but not associated to any active project/tag. Could you please fix that? Thanks.
