Add a "Links on page revision" list source
Open, LowestPublicFeature

Description

This is a feature request.

When making a list, it would be nice to have a "Links on page revision" source where I can select the article, then upon clicking "Make list", it would have me enter in a revision ID.

I realize I can do this by copying a revision to my sandbox and getting the links from that page. This proposal is to make that process more straightforward.

Impetus: The "popular pages" tool generates a list of most viewed pages in a wikiproject, but each month's new data is copied over the previous month's. I would like to do list compares between the current month's data and a previous month's which is in the previous revision.

Alternative approaches:

  • "Links on previous page revision" - Enter the page name and it shows links on the previous revision of the page.
  • "Links on a previous page revision" - Enter the page name, click "Make list", then enter in a counting number meaning a revision from that many revisions back from the current one.

Probably the easiest (and only?) way of doing this, would be by using the API parse module, and using that to extract the links

ie from https://en.wikipedia.org/w/api.php?action=parse&oldid=494262115&prop=links
