tools.citationhunt can't access databases
Closed, ResolvedPublic

I haven't been able to use the databases on Tools labs as user tools.citationhunt for a few weeks now:

tools.citationhunt@tools-bastion-01:~$ sql enwiki_p 'select 1;'
ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 's52481'@'' (using password: YES)

I've also reproduced the issue with dewiki and trwiki. My user account (ggp) is still capable of accessing the databases, though.

@jcrespo, could you take a look at this?

I cannot say anything about labs user accounts -I do not maintain them.

However, the mysql account exists on ours database servers with the right permissions, so either he is using a wrong password or the password we have provided do not match the one on the servers. I cannot recover his password if that is the case.

He should a) recheck how he authenticates and if he is sure it is wrong, b) get someone at labs recreate his account.

Yeah I think this needs re-creation. I think just deleting the user account on the labsdbs should trigger this. I'll do this tomorrow.

Ok, so this has happened now and I've recreated it with a user account / and new @Surlycyborg can you confirm everything is ok?

It's working again. Thank you very much!

Yw! And sorry it took this long...

yuvipanda moved this task to Done on the labs-sprint-117 workboard.

@yuvipanda: Is there more work left to do here? Or should this task be closed as resolved?

I think we should close this bug.

Please re-open if it's still happening.
