Description

Noticed that via it is not possible to rename the own account using https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:GlobalRenameUser but it seems to be possible via Special:GlobalRenameQueue/open it is.

(User rename log); 14:55 . . Global rename script (Talk) renamed user TrashUser (0 edits) to STrashAccount ‎
(Global rename log); 14:55 . . STrashAccount (Talk | contribs) globally renamed TrashUser to STrashAccount ‎

Just for the record. Not sure if worth fixing.

You shouldn't be really allowed to rename yourself. During the rename process your account is "locked" and being migrated, and since the account performing the rename does not exist because it is being renamed that's the reason why Global rename script does the rename on your behalf. I suggest to decline and instead disallow self-renaming entirely to avoid issues with broken accounts.

I know that, self-renaming should be disallowed entirely - that is what i requested.
You likely misunderstood my request.

If "External Code Review Needed", who outside of CPT is supposed to provide it? Asking as I'd like to see a decision made on this patch provided by a new contributor. (I am aware that https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Developers/Maintainers states that there is no clear maintainership for that code repository.)
