A few sysops agreed on trying that option (which we initially thought it was still available!) for dealing with some spambots that are hamming some discussion pages with spam links, as a better alternative to protecting them:
https://es.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia_discusi%C3%B3n:Portada&action=history
https://es.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Plantilla_discusi%C3%B3n:Portada:Actualidad&action=history
and the filter on https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Especial:FiltroAntiAbusos/90
I also have participated and confirm my interest in this possibility (which I think should be the default)
I'm sorry, but for other wikis that have requested this we have required a proof for community consensus. Spanish Wikipedia consensus-making process is through a formal voting or if consensus becomes very clear, a thread in the Village Pump would be enough (as happened with rollback rights for example). No doubt the intentions are good, but I see no consensus here and I don't think eswiki should be exempted from following the practices.
@Platonides @abian @-jem- Could you launch such discussion, or do you plan to do so in the next few months?
Being bold, I'm closing this as declined, since no action at local level was taken to unblock this ticket. No discussion was ever started about this either. This can't happen w/o community consensus. Sorry.
