Markup transfer for Template:Coord in ContentTranslation fails
Open, MediumPublic

Description

Sometimes templates are translated (possibly just kept) but mangled into a mess. One example is this difference.

Is there any clues to how we can avoid this?

I did a quick investigation. Template:Coord is a supported template for CX. That means CX can translate it across languages. Without using Apertium MT, I got all the Coord tempalates translated correctly. But when I used Apertium MT, it returned translation by removing some annotations on top of the first Coord template.

So this points out that the issue is in the annotation transfer logic(Apertium is a plain text machine translation, after plain text translation CX tries to reapply all HTML markups on this plain text to effectively get HTML translaiton . @Edsanders, I am removing blocked by task T105447 since this is not about editing feature but about machine translation of HTML. It may be better to link only general/tracker tickets about template editing(example T102964) to T105447
