Description

On iOS 9 with devices that support force touch we can provide quick links from the home screen.

Initial actions proposed:

  • Continue Reading - Last read article
  • Random article - Load random article in article view
  • Search Wikipedia - Open the search dialog with keyboard popped up

@Nirzar @JMinor +1 to having Nearby Articles and Random Article too!!! :)

In future consider "Today" entry as well which would just load main page.

Grabbed this as a fun weekend hack.

@Mhurd here are the two missing icons in quick actions

I think you can re-use the search icon

Waiting to wrap beta bits. Not blocked.

@Nirzar thanks! I added them to the PR: https://github.com/wikimedia/wikipedia-ios/pull/319
(the PR also has screenshots if you want to take a look)

@JMinor checked on Build 674 the home actions work perfectly.

The continue reading is conditional and shows up when you keep an article open and close the app.

Congratulations @Mhurd this is a really great feature and I really appreciate the extra effort you put in. It looks great in the video.
