Setting up git as proposed in https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Gerrit/Tutorial#Set_your_username_and_email with email of c0nnex@gerrit.wikimedia.org
Committing a change fails with

committer email address c0nnex@gerrit.wikimedia.org
does not match your user account.

How to protect my email address then?

Address must match an address confirmed against your account, I don't think this is unreasonable. Note that your primary gerrit address is shown to anyone who knows your username.

That's not th point. Of course it's reasonable, but why suggest in the Tutorial to use an anonymized @gerrit.wikimedia.org email address, if you don't get one by default?
The purpose is , that the email-address is not part of every commit log etc. which floats readable by any bot around.

That has been removed from the tutorial.
