What a horrible description snippet, complete with 2001-era capitalisation WikipediA. Can we put in a custom description somehow?
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/29363908/html-multiple-language-meta-descriptions is the closest I could find related to this. It's recommending to set the Content-Language HTTP header which I don't think we're going to do here as the portal is language-neutral.
Accidentally came across this task. Seems like something @debt's team should look into if it's still an issue :)
Moving this to the Portal Backlog board - it'll be taken into consideration if/when we localize the language of the portal page.
I just noticed this ticket, and decided to test the google result myself. It looks like the changes we made to the footer links had an impact on the Google search result. This change doesn't solve the issue of 'Content-Language' not being set, but I would still consider it progress.
It does look a bit better...but the WikipediA is still there (on desktop):
But, on the other hand, the Android app is listed as #5 and the iOS app is listed as #7 on the search results page (in google). :)
