SVN is two (or will be shortly) revision control systems ago, Do we really still need these redirects at all?

Not really. This is only a suggestion since some website still use the old revision of the extension.

I'm sure people would still use gopher if we kept it around, I'm not sure that's a use case for keeping these domain redirects around.

Aklapper claimed this task.

Declining as ops won't spend time on this (however if you have a patch ready in Gerrit for redirects please link to it and it will get reviewed).

Reopening, We discussed this earlier elsewhere, and was pointed out to me, that we should either fix the broken redirects, Or my suggestion was just to kill off the svn.* redirections since its taken this long to notice it.

Aklapper set Security to None.

I think we should either decline this OR redirect to gitlab OR to gerrit, just definitely not to Phabricator anymore.

I don't think that there is any exact mapping from the old SVN commits and the git repos that were split from it. As far as I know Phabricator is the only active svn hosting service we have today.

Subversion is still actively developed software with packages available in Debian. I wonder how difficult it would be to containerize a subversion server with a working web interface for this? Viewvc seems to have been last packaged for buster (reasonably since it is a python2 app), but it is also still actively developed and working towards a python3 supporting release. It seems that the development trunk it may already work for the core use cases that I assume our read-only browsing would need.

I've boldly updated the task description to suggest targetting https://static-codereview.wikimedia.org instead which is where diffs and code review for SVN is hosted long-term.

Having said that, most of these URLs aren't for viewing single commits, but viewing directories or files at a certain revision. That indeed would require a proper SVN repo with viewer of sorts, which today, we only have on Phabricator.
