Summary / Rationale
Reading lists (nee: Collections) are a great way to engage with readers, encourage them to come back to the app again and again, and facilitate sharing of content, which can improve readership even more and they are also growing in popularity across the web.
With the introduction of collections reading lists, we are helping solve the following user problems:
For readers:
- I would like to be directed to interesting articles
- I would like to see what my friends recommend on Wikipedia
For avid readers and "curators":
- I would like to share/recommend my tastes with friends/world
- I would like to share my expertise with the world (here is what you need to know about the CIA)
- I would like to share interesting “meta” Wikipedia quirks: weird articles, funny articles, bad grammar
- I want to tell stories through ordered, organized compilations of articles
For editors
- I would like to know that my article is valued or being read.
