Right now Special:Nearby has no introduction sentence explaining what it shows. It should have an intro sentence so users can more easily understand what they are seeing when coming to the page.

Yeah, @Lydia_Pintscher, i see Nearby Special page does not have any introductory sentence concerning it. Looking at all the other special pages, i see all of them have an intro statement saying what the extension does.
Will look into this and submit a patch :)
Change 269464 had a related patch set uploaded (by D3r1ck01):
Special page nearby lack intro sentence
I would correct it to: Reveals information concerning interesting locations around your current location (IP address).
(first location -> locations and space between location and (IP )
This is not accurate. It uses the geolocation API which may use GPS.
I'd like to get input from @Nirzar before continuing.
Personally I think a message above the list is the wrong solution and I think ideally the spinner should say "Finding pages near your current location..." to indicate what's going on.
Special:Nearby can also use different coordinates
https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Special:Nearby#/coord/38.897669444444,-77.03655
or show things near a page:
https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Special:Nearby#/page/Q243
I wonder if we can make the wording could accommodate these other possibilities, or have different messages for those cases?
I always forget about those.
Yes, I can imagine a different message for each of the above being useful for these cases.
I'm not sure how you make "38.897669444444,-77.03655" user friendly though. Ideally you'd say something like "The following pages are near Washington DC" rather than "The following pages are near 38.897669444444,-77.03655".
I think updating the ajax loading gif to have a message would be a good first start though.
Change 269464 abandoned by Jdlrobson:
Special page nearby lack intro sentence
Reason:
Hi D3r1ck01 I'm abandoning this in case someone else wants to work on it (that can obviously be you but I see you removed yourself as the assignee from the task :)) Luckily this change will be preserved in Gerrit for whoever wants to take another go at it! Thank you for trying!
