Links to `[[en:Article|this article]]` are not unusual, although they are errors. In VisualEditor, these links simply disappear when the page is opened, with the result that previously intelligible sentences ("Read this article to learn more") are missing words ("Read to learn more").

Perhaps we could detect these and show them as broken meta items (like how we show comments, but with a warning alert icon or somesuch). There's also the long-planned but very low priority of letting users set local language links inside the editor, which is T59929.

MediaWiki shows this as an actual link instead of adding it as an interlanguage link in the sidebar. I don't remember the criteria it uses to determine which to do. Do we need something extra from Parsoid here?
