Reinstall the app
Set device language to English
Install & run the app
Go through welcome flow, leaving English has first language
Finish welcome flow, landing on "Explore" tab

Expected results

Feed is shown, including sections for today's featured article & picture of the day

Actual results

TFA & POTD are missing:

Checked with 5.0.0 (674) on iPad mini iOS 8.2 and iPhone 6 iOS 9.0 with wifi access and no-wifi access.

The Explore page seems to be populated promptly and smoothly.
