Briefly, this is an idea for letting wikis know in a convenient and transparent way what is the Wikidata item that is related to a given red link.

Some wikis such as eowiki believe red links is a bad thing, and in such wikis non-existent articles should be unlinked. See https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Universal_Code_of_Conduct/Coordinating_Committee/Cases/2026/Redlinkphobia_imposed_without_consensus_on_Esperanto_Wikipedia
