Lift IP rate limit - Wikipedia 15 Santiago - 2016-01-16
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Hello, I will apologize before hand for this very late request, but again, the Spaniard Cultural Center in Santiago, just confirmed us the IP's that are going to be used in the Wikipedia 15 event, so I am requesting the IP lift as soon as it has been possible for us.

The local chapter (WM-CL), will host an editing workshop and an edit-a-thon event at Santiago on January 16, 2016.

This event will include a an Editing Workshop and an Edit-a-thon (both on the 16), with editors working together to learn or improve their editing skills, and then to create or improve articles related to Chile.

We are expecting about 50 people to attend. One of the things we'd like to do is encourage potential newbie participants to create their own accounts during the session and learn editing, guided by some active editors.

Could I please request you to remove the 7 username in a 6 hour period limit with these details?

If all of the users are spread over all of those IPs, the normal limit should be fine.

I'd have to agree with @Krenair - roughly 6(.25) users per IP if all 50 turned up and attempted to create an account

It seems that the first and the last IP's are not usable by users (probably my mistake because of the rush while creating the task, and not reading carefully the Spaniard Cultural Centre email), this make only 6 IPs usable (numbers 2 to 6).

I am not a technical person myself, and I do not know how the system will or might spread the users among this IPs. Anyhow, I trust your good judgment on this matter.

Thanks for claiming the task.

@3BRBS no worries, give me 20 minutes to get home from work and I'll get this done :)
