I am operating the latest version of AWB and the zip was properly extracted (Newtonsoft.Json alongside AWB), what could possibly be the problem? It is obviously not an internet connection error, since it works for enwiki. I was attempting to switch to commons, but any wiki other than default (enwiki)

Same problem here. I recall similar problem with one past corrupted version.

"Latest Version" isn't helpful

The "Latest version" is 5.8.5.1, released a couple of hours ago.

Retry. My mistake. Forgot to update all dlls

why did you reopen this?

I was still experiencing the problem on a recent download, guess it wasn't recent enough because now it is working.
