`tools.anon` causing excessive I/O
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

I killed
grep -A 5 ar.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?diff=18180798 anon.out

which was using massive amounts of IO, presumably because you're grepping a 40GB file. There is probably a better way to do what you're doing (using the database, for example); please discuss with us, as the grepping causes large strains on the NFS server.

Sorry about that. I really had no idea it was such a large file when I started to grep it :-) I have since deleted it, which probably wasn't so nice to NFS either...oops!

No problem, these things happen.
