"Delete" message is unclear, when multiple cells are selected
Closed, DuplicatePublic

Description

Do this:

  1. Create a table and add some content.
  2. Select several cells, e.g., an entire column.
  3. Decide that you want to get rid of this column.
  4. Oh, look! A button marked "Delete" appeared when I selected this column. That must be the way to delete this row, right? (It's not 'Properties' or 'Merge', so it must be the other option...)
  5. Oops.

Maybe the message should say "Delete table" for clarity.

Event Timeline

It says "Table [ Delete ]"…

and it doesn't change in response to the selection

Although the button is still just labeled "delete", it is in the "table" context item and appears whenever any part of the table is selected, so hopefully it's now clearer that it applies to the whole table.

Actually, from T145710, it seems like this task was filed with the current interface in mind.
