Logs of removed extensions appear in logs unformatted
Closed, DuplicatePublic

Description

Logs of removed extensions still appear in logs but are not formatted. See for example Article Feedback at enwiki, FlaggedRevs at mediawiki.org, and many others.

This is very confusing and in my opinion, these entries should be removed altogether. In a sense, this is related to T44246.

Show only valid log types in logs

I'm not sure removal is the best option, that would mean that every uninstallation destroys history about a user or page.

For instance I think it's good that we still show my AFT log actions; I consider it an improvement compared to, say, namespace destruction, which makes it look like I never wrote anything in any thread.

They're not deleted from the db so they can be recovered if the extension is reinstalled.

Most users would have no idea what this means, for them it's useless clutter. And there's no way to hide them. So they shouldn't be shown by default. But I've added a url option "unused" which can forces them to be displayed if needed.
