For a long time I wanted to award badges to people contributing to projects I am co-leading such as CI, beta cluster or area I have some expertise in (such as tests, plain awesome of easy to fix bugs and what not).
I have been lurking for years at Mozilla http://openbadges.org/ system, but I lack time/envy/skill to implement a badge system for Wikimedia communities. I found out that Phabricator has a badge application and I would like us to investigate it and potentially enable it on our setup.

I would imagine creating a few badges and distribute them as a token of appreciation when people interact with projects. Maybe we can even Herald rules to attribute them automatically.
Example of badges I have in mind:
- Contribute to a continuous integration related task
- Contribute to a beta cluster task
- Fill a bug which is start of the art (traces, way to reproduce, etc)
- Fast resolution of task
- Get rid of an errors log from wikimedia cluster (Wikimedia-production-error)
- Fixing old bugs
