Dzahn created this task.

Hi Fundraising people,

can you tell us if the mail aliases above (problemsdonating@ and similar) are still in use?

We would just like to move those over to OIT if that seems ok with you.

Best,

Daniel

Hey @Dzahn, sorry I missed the ping on this. Nemo is right, problemsdonating@ is even referenced on our donation form on donate.wikimedia.org. This is a high traffic alias.

Hi @CCogdill_WMF ! thank you. In that case i would just like to move them over to be controlled by OIT, like we did with other group aliases.

It's not even about problemsdonating@, that seems already on the Google side , it's just about problems.donating@ , problemdonating@ and problem.donating@ being aliases _for_ problemsdonating@

@bbogaert could we add "problems.donating@ , problemdonating@ and problem.donating@" as variants / aliases of the existing problemsdonating@ address?

Jgreen claimed this task.
Jgreen subscribed.

I submitted this task to techsupport@ so OIT will see it, closing in Phabricator.

Ok, cool. Maybe add ZenDesk ticket number. Please remove from privateexim module in private repo once OIT has them confirmed on their side.

Jgreen lowered the priority of this task from Medium to Low.

The ZenDesk task is #13464, haven't heard back yet. I'll reopen this task as a reminder to clean up the privateexim entries.

@Jgreen Hi, do you have a list of who was subscribed to these aliases?

@eross Hi, the thing is that problemsdonating@ is already on the Google side, but we have all these aliases that additionally point to that address. so problems.donating@, problemdonating@ and all those variants below is what we see, but the list of actual people should be behind problemsdonating@ on your side.

155 # problems donating
156 problems.donating: problemsdonating
157 problemdonating: problemsdonating
158 problem.donating: problemsdonating

@Dzahn OK, I just created the Google group with problems.donating@wikimedia.org, problemdonating@wikimedia.org, problem.donating@wikimedia.org and comentarios@wikimedia.org pointing to problemsdonate@wikimedia.org. Just need to find who was subscribed.

pointing to problemsdonate@wikimedia.org

.
problemsdonating@ not problemsdonate@ right?

Just need to find who was subscribed.

I expected that you would see the list of people on your existing address/group problemsdonating@ ? Is that not the case?

@Dzahn From the ticket on Zendesk it stated problemsdonate@ but I can change if it needs to be problemsdonating@ however, problemsdonating@ is already created as an user account to which hasn't been logged in since 2/27/14 which is possibly managed by James A.

Also, because it's a user account, another users can't be subscribed to. So i'm not sure who is reading what is coming into this inbox but I can add those other aliases to this account.

@eross Hi! I can't see that Zendesk ticket but that must be a typo. This has always been about the existing problemsdonating address and this ticket definitely existed first. I just expected that to be a group instead of an individual account but that was just my assumption because that should scale much better for the Fundraising team than an individual.

So yes, please add the aliases listed here to that existing account. Then we can remove them on our side and it would be all resolved from our point of view. It was just about getting them out of this file that can only be changed by root users.

Seperately, i would suggest to maybe change that to be a Google group, similar to, for example, maint-announce@, but that would be up to James A. and Fundraising, just my suggestion. That part can be continued on the ZenDesk ticket if you like.

Thanks much! Daniel

@Dzahn This is done. I will speak to James A and Fundraising to see next steps.

Best,
Emerauld :)

@eross Thank you Emerauld! Appreciate it. I will remove it on our side and close this ticket here. Yes, the rest can just be up to James A and Fundraising.

Dzahn claimed this task.

Removed on ops side. I see that problems.donating , problemdonating and problem.donating and comentarios work in Google.

The other 3 international ones (Chinese etc) don't work but they were already commented out before.

Closing. Thanks!
