Wrong numbers of references and template boundaries in VisualEditor
Closed, DuplicatePublic

Description

Hey! That bug might be related or duplicate of T95176.

I don't know what's really happening, so I tried to report what I've encountered.

In this article, the last section the last sentence ("Sprzęt działający na podobnej zasadzie (...)") have [6] reference number. When I tried to edit it in VisualEditor, In VE it changed to [3]. When I tried to edit reference, the editor has shown the content of the 6th reference - so only number was changed.

Now when I tried to edit and check real [3] reference (sentence "Chińska pułapka na palce jest czasem używana (...)" in same section) I couldn't, because VE highlighted it as the content of {{fakt}} template. The problem is that {{fakt}} starts after that real [3] reference, in next sentence and ends in 5th list element. The highlighted block starts with the start of the section and ends after 6th reference. Additionaly it merged the first and second paragraph of this section.

It's somehow connected, because that edition fixed the problem and current version haven't these problems, i.e. references numbers are good, it don't highlight much more than template and two paragraph on the start of the last section are separate, as they should be.

I'm on Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64; rv:44.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/44.0, but it seems to affect other browsers.

Hi there.

This is a really messy problem created by references defined within templates, I believe, which is tracked from T52474: In VisualEditor, references in templates cannot be reused and are numbered separately from references in the text.. There isn't a helpful answer I can give, but I'll merge this in there for now. Sorry.
