When editing a table with VisualEditor, such as the table that I currently have in https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Pine/Sandbox, a user can delete the entire contents of a cell by selecting the cell by selecting the cell and then starting to type. However, a user cannot selectively edit the text in the cell, such as by single-clicking or double-clicking on the text in a cell and then using the backspace key to delete a single word.
