Description

If I go to https://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ragnar_Hovland there is a greyed out link "norsk" under other languages telling me I can translate the page from "norsk" to "norsk" (presumably bokmål to bokmål).

From no.wiki, shows link to "norsk"

Any reference to no.wiki should probably specify "norsk (bokmål)" or something, since there are two "norsk" wikis ("norsk" is ambiguous between "norsk (bokmål)" and "norsk (nynorsk)").

Also, from nn.wiki, https://nn.wikipedia.org/wiki/Formant shows links to both "norsk" and "norsk (bokmål)"

Hmm, we had a few bugs like this in the past, and I was pretty sure that I fixed them.

I cannot reproduce this one, but it very much depends on your local environment.

Can you please provide the following:

  • Your browser version, OS
  • OS locale
  • Browser locale (the language of the menus)
  • The preferred languages list int he browser's settings
  • The "Accept Language" value that you see when you go to http://www.reliply.org/tools/requestheaders.php
  • The value that you see if you run mw.uls.getFrequentLanguageList() in the browser console

Hope it's not too overwhelming ;)

Oh, that's interesting, on one of my computers I don't see the "norsk" from those pages.

Both computers are running Ubuntu 15.10 and both say

$ apt-cache policy firefox
firefox:
  Installert: 45.0+build2-0ubuntu0.15.10.1
  Kandidat:   45.0+build2-0ubuntu0.15.10.1
  Versjonstabell:
 *** 45.0+build2-0ubuntu0.15.10.1 0
        500 http://da.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ wily-updates/main amd64 Packages
        500 http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ wily-security/main amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
     41.0.2+build2-0ubuntu1 0
        500 http://da.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ wily/main amd64 Packages
$ echo $LANG
nn_NO.UTF-8

Preferred languages in Firefox on both computers, from top to bottom: nn-no, nn, no-no, no, nb-no, nb, en-us, en

But here comes the difference, from http://www.reliply.org/tools/requestheaders.php :
Accept Language on working computer: en-US,en;q=0.5
vs
Accept Language non-working computer: nn-NO,nn;q=0.9,no-NO;q=0.8,no;q=0.6,nb-NO;q=0.5,nb;q=0.4,en-US;q=0.3,en;q=0.1

From what page should mw.uls.getFrequentLanguageList() work?

Is this still reproducible? We made some big fixes to how language codes are handled, so this should be fixed by now.
