When a .css/.js page is moved, the content of the page remains with #redirect
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Check for example this page although I've found more recently. It looks that when we move a page containing JS or CSS, the original page is kept containing the script prepended with #REDIRECT.

Event Timeline

Added Regression since I don't remember this to be happening before.

I'm pretty sure that's a bug, not a feature :) If you move a page you can select, if you want to leave a redirect or not :)

I see it happens too when the user is renamed. Maybe @Legoktm could amend the extension so pages that end in .js and .css are suppressredirected by default when renaming an user, locally or globally.

Moreover, I'm not sure if there's any benefit in leaving redirects on .js/.css pages since they don't work. Maybe the whole .js/.css renaming can be amended in core so redirects ain't created in those pages (with the exception of talk pages).

Actually, they do work: rMWad9f14d662f9: Support redirects in JavaScriptContent.
