Description

Because of the thousands of pages in need of deletion already, to avoid having to delete a thousand more.

Isn't that issue fixed now? Or is it still happening?

As far as I'm aware, it's still happening. Also, if the issues were resolved, wouldn't that bug be closed already?

I just had a quick look at https://tools.wmflabs.org/quentinv57-tools/tools/globalcontribs.php?username=Babel%20AutoCreate&limit=500 but I don't see incorrectly named categories.
That bug is probably not closed because a script to delete incorrectly named categories hasn't been written; the underlying issue has been fixed.

Will test at Meta and report back to you, but we've been reported last week it's still happening.

What makes us believe that non-Wikimedia wikis care about this too?

Tested. The bug that makes creating categories for non-existant languages or bad language codes still exists, as well as T63993, T62824 and all of this. I've reblocked the bot at Meta.

Closing until we have an answer.
