"Your edit was saved" sometimes does not appear when edits are saved.

I can't reproduce this in Safari 9.1/Mac OS 10.10.5, but @TheDJ can. Perhaps it's intermittent? Or requires a particular circumstance?

Reproducing this problem seems to require switching editors during the edit.

So if you begin in WTE, switch to VE, then save, you don't get the PostEdit notification?

ah, mediawiki.action.view.postEdit does not get loaded
