Add text render from OCG/wikipedia-telnet as an standard API option, similar to text (HTML) or wikitext in action=parse
Open, Needs TriagePublic

As a developer, I think it's interesting to have direct access to the clean text output that Offline Content Generator/Book Creator and Wikipedia-Telnet service provide, from a standard MediaWiki API option similar to prop=text (HTML) or prop=wikitext in action=parse (ideally, it would be just another prop=x option). This would allow to easily access and show useful outputs for article contents in tools working in text mode environments like IRC or shells (as mine does).

I've already been told by @cscott that OCG and the extensions/software involved aren't easy to connect to the MediaWiki API, so maybe this task isn't (much) feasible, but maybe it can get some support or some alternative ideas or ways to get done.

Central modules implement:
~ Modes: read, edit, doc, tests... to choose some kinds of wikitext results.
~ Options: docdata, box1, catview... to adapt details of presentations.
~ Translatable in many languages, for arguments names and organisation of results.
~ Modes, options and languages are parametrables.
They could answer these propositions...
If you choose to transpose them in MediaWiki API,
or if your use central modules as wikitext generators for a part of MediaWiki API.

@Rical: This task is not relevant to your overcomplicated Scribunto modules on frwikisource. Please don't spam. Thanks.

As already announced in Tech News, OfflineContentGenerator (OCG) will not be used anymore after October 1st, 2017 on Wikimedia sites. OCG will be replaced by Electron. You can read more on
