"Fall back to wikitext" does nothing on URL input

Cite -> Manual -> Website

Click on the wikitext icon next to the URL - the icon disappears but nothing else happens.

It also isn't clear what this button means - we need to provide some explanation. For example under "Last name" all it appears to do is change the appearance of the input, but the functionality is unaffected.

It doesn't necessarily change much with all types of inputs. You will loose URL validation if you fall back from the URL input widget to a plain wikitext input.

That said this feature misbehaves in several ways
