Add upload size to Index page
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Currently the upload size is entered manually. This is a lot of work when dealing with large number of uploads.

It would be nice if it was populated automatically.

Event Timeline

It would also be nice to have number of pages automatically populated.

What is the interest to add this information to the index page instead of just using the Lua API to retrieve it when needed?

In Indic wikisource's there is a drive going on to upload the OCR'ed content of old books;. They would need these information for uploading and proof reading. Not everyone has access to unlimited access to internet and time so they want this information to decide whether to work on a particular file or not. Also they are not much comfortable to Lua and other tech oriented things. Of course they can get these details by other means but it would be very helpful if they can see this information on the index page.

I've created a new Lua module [1] and edited the index page template to display the number of pages and the file size if they are not already set in the Index: pages edit form [2].

If you want, I could drop the two parameters from the index: pages edit form in order to switch to something 100% done automatically by MediaWiki.

Thanks a lot @Tpt, appreciate your quick help. I think this should solve their problem. @Info-farmer please let us know if it is otherwise.
