Large wiki table in Google Chrome causes WikiEditor to be very slow
Open, Needs TriagePublic

Description

When WikiEditor loads a large wiki table in Google Chrome, the editor slows down considerably, even on a fast desktop workstation. Each keystroke takes about 1.5 seconds to complete.

To reproduce this problem:

  1. Visit https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Sandbox using Google Chrome on Windows 7 Professional (or possibly other operating systems, I didn't check).
  2. Edit the page using WikiEditor.
  3. Copy and paste the wikitext from the attached file into WikiEditor.
  4. Further edit operations should be very slow. For example, place your cursor into the edit box and type something like "asdf". The characters should appear very sluggishly.

The whole wiki page is slow actually -- for example, typing in the wiki search box is equally sluggish.
