The word "diff" in Recent Changes entry for a new page appears, but doesn't link anywhere.
When there is a previous version, it obviously links to the diff.
It would be useful if that word did link to something, for example to the old version as a rendered page, to a diff from an empty page, or to editing the old version. Any of these would be more useful than no link at all.

If it's a new page, there won't be a diff to display, right ? So, there shouldn't be a link for it.
Hope I'm understanding this issue correctly.
Checked if RC old filters ( Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-rc "Use non-JavaScript interface" option) will have the same no-link diff - yes, the diff is still present there too.
Interesting that in History of a new page there are still two supposed-to-be links - cur and prev :
