"Start editing" popup assumes the wiki has the world's discoveries as goal
Open, LowestPublic

Description

The "start editing" popup/splashscreen, apart from being shown in totally inappropriate situations (T135682), has a bizarre sentence in visualeditor-welcomedialog-content-thanks:

Thank you for helping the world discover more!

with qqq:

This message expresses gratitude for the user's upcoming edit. It may be translated in the context of "Thank you for this action which helps others discover new things" or "(By doing this) you're helping readers learn new things".

The assumption that the current wiki is focused on increasing "discoveries" by "the world" is incorrect: thousands of wikis may have such an idea, but tens of thousands don't. Besides, the focus on "discover" and "new things" puts an unwarranted weight on information and trivia as opposed to knowledge and skills, which is inappropriate even for Wikimedia wikis.

This is, indeed, principally of use for Wikimedia content wikis. Proposals for summing up the objective in equally simple language would be gratefully received.
