A few days ago I uploaded a bunch of 193 audio files with the upload wizard (in ordinary steps of 50 files). Problem: The wizard denies to upload some of the files with names being similar to existing one's. Message: "There are 4 errors with the forms above. Correct the errors, and try submitting again."
Four was the number of the first bunch of 50 files. Tallied up for my 193 files there were 13 current examples with problems:
- I tried to upload "De-Streichholz.ogg" (containing the pronunciation of German term "Streichholz") and the wizard complained: "A file with this name exists already. If you want to replace it, go to the page for File:De-Streichholzschächtelchen.ogg and replace it there."
In my opinion there is a slight difference between "Streichholz" and "Streichholzschächtelchen".
- De-Wirkung.ogg is followed by: A file with this name exists already. If you want to replace it, go to the page for File:De-Wirkungsquantum.ogg and replace it there.
- De-wünschen.ogg is followed by: A file with this name exists already. If you want to replace it, go to the page for File:De-wünschenswerter.ogg and replace it there.
- De-Zimmer.ogg is followed by: A file with this name exists already. If you want to replace it, go to the page for File:De-Zimmermannshammer.ogg and replace it there.
You'll agree that the filenames are quite different (content anyhow).
- De-kulturell.ogg is followed by: A file with this name exists already. If you want to replace it, go to the page for File:De-kulturell beeinflusst.ogg and replace it there.
- De-reizen.ogg is followed by: A file with this name exists already. If you want to replace it, go to the page for File:De-reizender.ogg and replace it there.
- De-Musikinstrument is followed by: A file with this name exists already. If you want to replace it, go to the page for File:De-Musikinstrument-article.ogg and replace it there.
- De-Fluch.ogg is followed by: A file with this name exists already. If you want to replace it, go to the page for File:De-Flucht.ogg and replace it there.
- De-Holz.ogg is followed by: A file with this name exists already. If you want to replace it, go to the page for File:De-Holz vor der Hütte haben.ogg and replace it there.
- De-Ablehnung.ogg is followed by: A file with this name exists already. If you want to replace it, go to the page for File:De-Ablehnungen.ogg and replace it there.
- De-abwerten.ogg is followed by: A file with this name exists already. If you want to replace it, go to the page for File:De-abwertend.ogg and replace it there.
- De-Auffassung.ogg is followed by: A file with this name exists already. If you want to replace it, go to the page for File:De-Auffassungsgabe.ogg and replace it there.
- De-außen.ogg is followed by: A file with this name exists already. If you want to replace it, go to the page for File:De-außenpolitisch.ogg and replace it there.
No, I don't want to replace any of these files. I want to add new ones with exactly these names and different content. These names are also needed for a bot from [[user:DerBeth]], which links these pronunciation examples to other wiktionaries than the German automatically (which requires exactly(!) the name of the content).
