The Android app's Nearby feature always defaults to a specific zoom level regardless of the amount of relevant content within a particular view, so users may miss seeing interesting content (relatively) nearby.
As per iOS (see T130889), enable a "smart" way to set zoom level of the Nearby map view so that it is shown at the most zoomed in level where there are at least X articles available.
So for example, for an area dense with relevant content like Manhattan, New York, the default zoom level would be significantly narrower than that of Wagga Wagga in Australia. (Related to T114066: Allow query of nearby articles based on zoom level.)
For areas that have dense levels of content, enable pin clusters. That is, pins that are within 16dp of each other are combined into a pin cluster. The number on the pin cluster and its size represents the number of pins within a cluster.
