Given this report, and my own experimentation with the "did you mean" feature on Wikidata, the feature does not seem to be useful at all. This isn't surprising given how it works and given Wikidata's content model. This task is for us to consider and discuss whether we should simply turn that feature off on Wikidata.

@CKoerner_WMF can you take a look closer at this to see if turning it off will affect too much?
Does anyone know if this was discussed elsewhere? I'd suggest maybe putting an ask for feedback out on the Wikidata mailing list. Is that a good idea?
@Lydia_Pintscher Ok, great! Where do you think would be the best place to ask for feedback? Wikidata:Project_chat seems the most suitable to me, but I would appreciate your expertise.
@CKoerner_WMF i'm not Lydia, but think (and she probably agrees) that Wikidata:Project chat would be a good place to ask.
I stated the situation and asked the community for feedback. A week of discussion should give us an indication on how to proceed with this.
I'm raising the priority to keep it on my radar as we (hopefully) receive feedback. :)
I'm resolving this ticket, as we're moving forward with the removal of the 'did you mean' suggestion with this ticket: T143260
