Page MenuHomePhabricator Portal: check ordering of languages
Closed, DeclinedPublic

We're seeing a bit different ordering of languages around the globe. When setting browser lang preferences are set for EN and ES, the rest of the languages around the globe should be the remaining top 10 languages in order of page views, as was done previously.

debt moved this task from Backlog to What's Next on the Discovery-Portal-Sprint board.

The globe links on the portal page are in the correct order. It does seem indescernable at first, but that's because the order is based on page-view data, and not article count. The pageview data isn't visible anywhere on the page, but when you view source, it is available in the html comments.

@Jdrewniak : So to confirm, prior to this deployment, the articles around the globe would have been most-viewed, not most-articles, and they would have been sorted by view count, not article count?

As long as we didn't change those behaviors, I assume this issue can be declined.

Is this behavior documented on wiki? I haven't checked. If it's not, it should be. Very counter-intuitive. I know we have some upcoming tests that would eliminate the confusing parts.

Hi @ksmith - yup, behaviour has not changed.

Here's some (older) documentation on why:
